45 Min Inquiry: A Rose By Any Other Name

A Rose By Any Other Name means that names of other things don't matter, only by the nature of the thing is more important than by what it is called.

The saying is also a weapon speciality on a sniper in Borderlands II

William Shakespeare was the founder of the saying "A Rose By Any Other Name,". William soon then got very famous because of the much loved movie and play, "Romeo and Juliet,". The play was written in between 1591-1595 . THere is even a 2013 version of the movie. The saying was said in Act II Scene II in the movie Romeo and Juliet when Juliet was talking to her dad, and basically saying "Names are powerful, so don't judge by their names,".

Dear Santa,

I think that I have been a very good boy. I was expecting that because I was SOOOO good, I would get anything I wanted. I will give you the decision of accepting my request. (Funny thing is he doesn't have a choice :D).

I think that I should get around $300 (being reasonable, lucky I didn't say $1,000,000,000,000,000) because I need the money so that I can save for an Xbox 360 and games. I also think I should get a new chair because I need one and I want one because I am a very good boy.

I also think that I should get a new T.V because my parents will be very annoyed with me if I use the T.V all the time. I also want a new Macbook because the one I am writing on is really basically broken and I don't know how I am writing the letter. ( this is not paper)

Yours Sincerely
Conor ( The Good Kid :)

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a futuristic First Person Shooter (FPS). Black Ops II can work on a PC (Personal Computer, Desktop, Beefy laptop), PS3, XBOX 360, and even a Wii U. Black Ops II was made by Treyarch in November and Published by Activision and Square Enix.

You can choose from: Multiplayer, Campaign (Single Player), or Zombies. I really like to play zombies but I'm not that good at it. I never do campaign because I think that it is boring because there is nothing to do.

In zombies, you start off with 500 Points. Everytime you shoot you get 10+ points to your 500, if you knife you get 10 points and if you kill the zombie with a knife shot you get 130+ points. There are guns on the wall that you can buy for specific prices and they range from 500-6000 points. You can Pack-a-Punch to upgrade your gun. Sometimes you can Pack-a-Punch twice for maximum damage.

This game is not for girls, it is for people who can handle jump scares and large amounts of zombies. I rate it 8/10

Dystopia: A ruined future
Sight
We were trying to get away, away from the disasters that we passed, we hopped in our car and started for the highway, as we looked ahead, the traffic was massive. We weren't the the only ones trying to get away from the Nuclear Meltdown. We saw people scrambling on top of other cars. Out of nowhere, a massive explosion rattle the ground and shook all the cars surrounding. The cars' suspension couldn't handle it. As the car bounced around, the peoples faces were shocked and scared.

Sound
Someone on the other side of the car suggested that we wind down the windows, as they were halfway down, we had to wind them back up because of the sirens blurting out they're loud "WEEWOO".
Smell
The windows didn't even make it down to halfway because the stench was so bad. It smelled of death, something that was lurking and its breath just breathing on us all, so that he can get the pleasure of trapping us in his horrible smell.

Taste
I could nearly taste the foul breath of the thing that was lurking above. It was horrible, we all bclasped our hands on our mouths and begin to breath. The person next to me was starting to hyperventilate and eventually passed out. Then we all slipped into oblivion, not knowing what was going to happen next.

If you like gaming then you should consider giving a shot at being a Game Tester because you get to explain what kind of game you are into. There a heaps of things for you to choose from. Homework Task: Washoe (The chimpanzee)

Washoe was born in West America in 1965. Washoe was captured by the US Air Force for research for the space program. Washoe was named for Washoe County, Nevada, where she was raised and was taught how to use ASL (American Sign Language)

Washoe was the first female Common Chimpanzee to learn to communicate with American Sign Language. In 1967, Allen and Beatrix Gardner invented a project that will teach Washoe ASL at the University Of Nevada, Reno. At the time previous attempts to teach chimpanzees to speak vocal languages. The Gua and Vicki projects had failed. The Gardners believed that these projects were to hard for Washoe and moved on into ASL.

Washoe had her own 8x24 trailer that had all the home needs such as: a Fridge, a bed with blankets and sheets, a couch, drawers, she had access to the clothes, toys, books and a toothbrush. Much like the human child, she underwent a regular routine with chores, outdoor play, and rides in the family car

Homework Week3-4

Delayed Gratification & the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment

Stanford Marshmallow experiment is known as the "Marshmallow Experiment" was made by a scientist named Walter Mischel. Mischel and a couple of colleagues were interested in strategies that preschool children used when it comes to treats. They used four-year olds and told them they have two options

  1. They could ring a bell at any point and summon the experimenter and earn a marshmallow
  2. Or they could wait for 15 minutes and get two marshmallows
A message to children: One small reward now, one large reward later. Some children broke down and ate the marshmallow, whereas some children tried some techniques to help pass the time such as covering there're eyes, singing songs, and sitting under the desks. Mischel found out that children could help to pass the time by using "cool" techniques.

Homework Challenge: Sub-Orbital flight

Suborbital Spaceflight is when a spaceship is taken up to the edge of the atmosphere but is not in space. The guy behind this is Richard Branson, the leader of Virgin Galactic. Richard is planning on making a spacecraft that will take people to the edge of the atmosphere to orbit the Earth once. This trip is really expensive at a cost of. 200,000 dollars per person.

It is projects where you pay a lot of money to orbit the Earth for a half-hour in a two seated spaceship.

About The Lynx:

The Lynx is a two seated Reusable launch vehicle (RLV) that will take humans and payloads on a half-hour suborbital flight and get as high as 100 km (330,000 feet) and then return safely back on the runway where it took off.

The XO is like an ordinary laptop with stuff like: Microphone, speakers,built-in camera, touchpad, and 2 USB ports for keyboards, joysticks, steering sets, mouses, and keyboards.

These amazing laptops can be an: eBook, a mini tablet, and a laptop. The XO's screen can turn 360•  without the wires snapping inside. The screen resolution is 1200x900, with the camera resolution as 640x480.

Week 1-2 Homework

Augmented Reality (AR) means that a computer generated machine makes surroundings look better than it should. It takes the real world sounds, video, and graphics to make anything beyond your dreams, even a dinosaur. Augmented Reality is really extraordinary, take the Google Glasses for instance. These glasses are awesome because they have got these little microphones that you speak into and say something like, "Take a picture," and it takes a picture. There are many different colors that these swagalicious glasses have in store for you. There is a app for an Android phone, it's called Ivizimals. This app puts imaginary friends in real views on your screen.

The future transparent tablet is basically an iPad but it is see-through and you can go into forests and look at the animated dinosaurs with an app. Phone/App makers have come up with some pretty cool new types of app for iPhone and Androids. We call one of them EdiBear. EdiBear is basically a character that you can control via photos. You take a photo and customize it. You can choose the position of the animated character and you press select or accept. Say if you took a picture of a couch and you wanted to show this cool new app, you can make him sit on the couch. It looks like he is sitting down on the couch.

In the holidays I went to my Nana and Grandaddies' house for 5 days. It was awesome because I played computer all day. The game I was playing was Roblox. Roblox is a game where you can virtually build anything you can imagine. You can play gun games such as: Call Of Robloxia: Zombies. My favourite game(s) would be Call Of Robloxia 5, Build Your Base And Fight, and Build To Survive. In build your base and fight, you need to kill, be killed, and build. I just get straight into the killing to buy new weapons. If you kill another player you will get 100 Points. The weapons/guns are in order. Cost form smallest to biggest. M9: Free, Python: 300 points, P90: 1000 points, AUG: 1500 points, FAMAS: 2000 points, M249 SAW: 3500 points, HK416: 4000 points, Hi-Pistol: 6000 points, Gravity Coil: 6250 points, AK-74u 10000 points, and Shrike: 10000 points.

Today is the last day of school! I can't wait for Sunday, because I am going to my Nana and Grandaddies' house over in Waihi.  I love it out in the country because there are basically no rules for what I should do. I like going on the Quad-ski because it is manual and I love to change the gears. I like acting like I am driving a real car because I can't wait till I get my driver's licence. The thing I am looking forward to is the computer. It would mean the world to me to get Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
I really want it for my birthday, along with a onesie.

It takes about 45 minutes to get the house in Waihi, but I have been over there so many times. You will be amazed. It only takes for me like, 25 minutes. The time passes by when I just look at the birds and play sweet or sour, or I just stick my head out the window and watch the cars fly by. My Nana and Grandaddy own a MASSIVE orchard. It has 2 tool sheds, one of them a garage, a couple of apple trees about 500 meters down at the bottom,

Book Review 3

Alex Rider: Storm-Breaker

This book starts with a doorbell ring at three in the morning, and its never good news. The Police look upset and disturbed. They say that Alex's uncle was hit by a logging truck and wasn't wearing a seat-belt and that it killed him instantly. That was strange Ian Rider was always cautious that I had my seat belt.  Why would they kill an innocent bank manager. why did they kill my uncle for. Then he found out why. When he investigated the car, two guards were heading in Alex's way. He dived into the car and hid under the steering wheel.

When he thought it was safe he came out to look, and suddenly, the car jolted to a side he went flying into the back seat. The car's roof came crashing down and pinned hid leg down. He didn't fell any pain, but he was screaming with shock and the car was swaying side to die and he was pounding on the back windscreen and it was no good. He just wasn't strong enough.

Ian Rider was in the spy agency. the next day he went to the spy agency to asked why they killed Ian rider for. Alan Blunt, the manager said that it was a tourist. A tourist from a different agency. So they put Alex into a suit and sent him the the army training course were there are all different courses to do. That wasn't really appealing to Alex at all.

Book Review 2

The Spook's Battle: by Joseph Delaney.
Joseph Delaney, released Spook's Battle in America, March 2008.

The main characters are Thomas, Alice, Mab, The Spook, Father Stock, and Gremalkin.

"I see the future very clearly, your master will be dead, and you will be left alone."

The Spook and his apprentice Thomas.J Ward, protect the country from the dark, but now a terrible danger threatens. The witches are rising and the three most powerful witch clans are going to make the devil himself. If They succeed will Tom and his master have the courage and cunning to defeat the most powerful enemy of all...?

Thomas get chased through the wood and has to get back to the safe room back at the family's farm. To Thomas it was a house in a nightmare. There was no dad to greet him, no smell of dinner, there only was one smell in that world. It was Death. regardless of what the spook says to him "Good luck,"
he is going to need all the luck he can get for him to survive the devil himself.

This book is placed in the fiction section. I really like this book because it has a lot of killing and dangerous stuff the would never happen. This book is one of the best books I have ever read because it has got not a lot of chapters, and I like small chapter books.

The Hunger Games is a part of a trilogy, the books are, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. The trilogy was made on August 17 2012. There is over 26 million prints of the book. The trilogy has been placed in the Top 100 Teen Books in the world. The book is placed in the thriller/action. The books are for young teenagers, and it is science-fiction.

I think that the book is really inspirational for hunters and for teenagers that like to have some action.  I think that any of you guys that read this, you really need to get the book or books. If you have got a really good imagination, you can picture almost everything the story has to tell.

The main characters: President Snow: The leader of Panem, and the games,Cinna: Cinna is Katniss' Styler, Gale: Katniss' Bestie, Effie Trinket: Katniss and Peeta's Escort, she is very worried about her schedule, Haymitch: Haymitch is the drunken friend and helps with the presents or sponsors.

In America, centering in Panem, there is a live show that is very dangerous. Twelve boys and girls and plucked from the city and placed in a most deadly t.v show in history. The Hunger Games. They must fight for their lives, as they strive for food and water. they come across some deadly enemies from the other districts. When Peeta gets badly hurt by a sword wound, Katniss is invited to get some free suplies, but there's a catch, you have to fight for the suplies. Food is dropped down from the sky via parachutes, and there is a pot with something special for you inside.

I really started to have some fun because my dad and I took crashes each. The game is really fun if it doesn't crash, I sort of hate that game now because I spent around $122 on it. All of my birthday money is just wasted

The game came with a map of San Francisco, a model of the Dodge Charger, Comic Book, and a Photo Frame.

The First Course/ Entre: Scrabbled Egg Tarts:

The tarts took a really long time to cook, and I'm talking about 1 hour and a half. My dad keeped on hounding me to hurry up because he was starting to get annoyed. Although he was playing on the computer, he was getting really really hungry. The tarts tasted very delicious because the eggs had really good seasoning and the bacon made it stand out.

The Second Course/ Main: Sausages, Egg,Bacon Strips, Hash Browns:
The second course/main was the least favorite that night. The sausages were burned, the eggs were burned and the tasted bad. The sausages tasted alright because they had cheese in them and that was the high lite of the dish.

Third Course/Desert: Caramel Slice With Lollie Scramble:
The Desert was the best dish of the night. Oh my god it was so scrumptious. The caramel was so delicious because there was lots and lots of condescend milk in it. and the caramel in the caramel slice was about 1 - 3 cm of pure caramel. It was sooooo goood.

Homework Challenge

A5: Academic Excellence: Improve Your Study Skills.

What Is The Rimu Tree?:
Dacrydium Cupressinum, known as the Rimu tree is a large evergreen to the New Zealand forests. It is a member of the southern conifer group, the podocarps. The formal name "Red Pine" has fallen out of common use.

Facts On The Rimu:
Rimu is one of the most popular of our native timbers. Because it was used extensively in older character homes as both a structural and finishing timber, it is probably New Zealand’s best known native species. Rimu has been proven as a remarkably versatile and exceptionally beautiful timber. Good supplies of recycled rimu are available from a range of suppliers and demolition timber yards. Rimu timber can also be sourced from sustainably managed forests.

What It Looks Like:
As a young tree, it has bright olive-green weeping branches that are softly spiky to the touch, and as it matures these become drooping branches, both of which make it look very different from surrounding trees. The rimu is a member of the Podocarp family, and  has ‘male’ and ‘female’ trees, different to most conifers, which tend to have both male (pollen) and female (seed) cones on the same tree.

Where Do You Find The Rimu Tree?:
The Rimu grows though out New Zealand, such as North Island, South Island, and Stewart Island/Rakiura. Although the largest concentration of trees is now found on the West Coast of the South Island, the biggest trees tend to be in mixed podocarps forests.

What Stuff Is Made From The Rimu Tree?:

Facts On The Rimu:

How Long Does It Live For?:
The Rimu lives for up to 800-900, can grow as high as 50meters high, 1.5 meters wide. the leaves are 7mm long, and 1mm wide. The Rimu is a canopy tree

Why Is The Rimu Important To Maori?:
With the name red pine falling out of favor, the Maori name for Dacrydium cupressinum, Rimu, has become accepted. The Maori, who were the original founders of New Zealand, used wood from the tree for boat building, wood carving and building homes. They also used the tree's gum for starting fires and chewing.

Why Is Rimu The Best Tree In The School?
It's just the best, just deal with it or back off!!

Homework: A1 : Improve Your Maths Ability: Complete A 10x10 Grid In Under Two Minutes.

Over the past three weeks it has been hard to complete the 10x10 grid in two minutes, it was hard because my arm got really sore and I had to do it 3 times a night, as fast as I could go, and man it hurt.
I was so close every time (one or two lines off @_@)

My mum and dad keeped on pressuring me and then I said well you come and do it to my dad and he failed so he said "Lets take a break shall we?," He didn't like to get Pooped on at all.
In the second week of doing that I found I quite easy when it got to the 7 and 8's times tables, they are the really hard ones for me.

I am really good at maths ( Thats what my dad thinks!) and I get good scores in the iKAN Test, but I just can't do a couple of times tables like that.  One day all of my work and progress come to a close call when a I only had 5 more equations to do. The day after that I only have 3. And then one day I finished it. Like A Bossss. Here is a photo of my work and progress:

Daily Blog Post

Daily Blog Post: Games you have played.

My game that I chose is Minecraft. The aim of the game is to basically survive the outdoors with the materials provided. Once you have built your house, you need to find food to survive. If you don't get food soon enough, you will most likely die. To get food chop down trees and wait because the apples will drop. If you get sick of waiting, go and look for some pigs, cows, or chickens. If its night time, looks some zombies.

Did You Know? Over 10,946,385 people have bought Minecraft that's a total of: 350,284,320!!!

Once you get enough food you will need to cook it with a furnace and wood, coal, or charcoal. To build a furnace you will need a crafting table to create things such as, swords, pick axes, hoes, axes, shovels, flint and steel, and so on. If you get diomand and stuff, you might like to go to the Nether. I quite like it in the Nether because you get to kill Ghasts, Zombie Pigman, Blazes, and all other scary stuff like that.

To finish the game you have to go to The End , and kill the Ender Dragon. Once you you have gotten into The End, look for the obsidian towers made from obsidian. Take out the healers on top.

Daily Blog Post

My dad has got a job at a gas station. He doesn't get paid much. I have always wanted to go with him to work. I think it would be cool to work at a gas station because he sometimes brings back some food for free.  My mum doesn't have a job but she is planning on getting one. She has had a job before but she. Didn't get paid anything at all.

My grandaddy works on an orchard. He get paid lots of money at the end of the year. He has got his own quad ski that I love to ride all the time I got there. I really like to play on the computer. I normally play on Roblox, Minecraft, or Black Ops II on his Windows7

I really like it at my nana and grandaddy's because they have really good food.

Daily Blog Post: iKAN Tests

When I was at primary school, I was really bad at the iKAN test because we were really young. When I was in year six I got stage 5, when I came to Tauranga Intermediate, I was really bad at maths, and at the end of year 7, I was stage 7 because of Mr.P. At the start of term 1 year 8, I got stage 8. YAY!

Dead Island Review:

Dead Island is placed on a lush, tropical paradise, in the South Pacific, we call Banoi, Royal Palm Resort. This is the place where people love to burn all their money, but it all go's bad, this paradise turns to hell. Four strangers strangely find themselves imune to this viris.

Everyone is zombified except for a few left to fight for their lives. They must strive to survival, to fight, to get out of this chaos alive. There are all kinds of zombies that the have to fight like a Ram, Butchers,
Walkers, Suiciders, Floaters, Thugs, and Sprinters

Killing Two Birds, One Stone:

Achieve two objectives with a single effort. It would be remarkable indeed if someone slinging a stone at a bird got one bird, let alone two. Ovid had a similar expression in Latin nearly 2,000 years ago. Related phrases were in English and French literature by the 16th century. Thomas Hobbes used the modern version in a work on liberty in 1656.

Relative Overview

My special relative is Crocodillie. Crocodillie is 2 years old, a swampy green color, and is an American Crocodile. Crocodillie is really friendly and is best friends with Pickles. He really likes to hang out with him and they never fight. He likes to eat meat, and he likes to growl and chew on things.

I like Pickles and Crocodillie a lot, I like taking them for walks and and playing with them in my spare time. They really like walking themselves if I am doing homework, or they play with each other to excise. I think that they are really special because they have really awesome personalities.

Charging Laptops At School

Charging laptops at school

I think that only a couple of people should be aloud to charge their laptops at the front with the disadvantage of not sitting with their friends. I think that only a couple of charges should be at the front, say like 4-5 at the front that we swap between each other.

I think that if we only have a couple of chargers should be reasonable enough for the whole class and it wont be so cost affective. One bad thing about having a couple of chargers is that if everyone didn't charge their computer then there is going to be a very big que.

Homework Challenge

Today we went to the Tauranga Art Gallery. We went there for home work.  I hated it there because it was really boring, but we saw some really cool art work there though. I really liked a black portrait with white lightning bolt on them as shown below:

There was a really tall one and it looked really cool. It had lots of words that looked really awesome.
I thought that the tall one by Wayne Youle was really artisic and thoughtful, it looks like he spend a long time doing this piece.
These ones ( below ) was one of my mum's favorites in the whole gallery. She really liked the colors of the painting. She also like that how perfectly it was painted by Raye Catran.
